Maggie is from Mexico City. Angus is from Australia. London is where they landed, and where they decided to make something of the day.
We started in Holborn, moved through Drury Lane, found ourselves eventually at Somerset House and then down to Embankment as the light changed over the river. They dressed the way people dress when they actually think about clothes: a bespoke vintage corset, kitten heels, a vintage Christian Dior tie. Nothing off-the-peg, nothing that didn't mean something.
What I liked about this shoot was that it felt genuinely theirs. The city was just the backdrop. The real subject was two people who'd arrived from different corners of the world and ended up here, in this light, on this afternoon.
That's the thing about London elopements. The city is old enough and busy enough that it absorbs whatever you bring to it. Your story doesn't have to compete with it. It just becomes part of it.
